Encarnacion "Chona" Smith Vasquez was born on March 28, 1934, to Juan Angel smith and Sofia Abril Davila, she grew up in a small town in Mexico with her siblings, a town that would remain close to her heart throughout her life. She died peacefully at 90 years old on June 20, 2024 in her home surrounded by family.
She is survived by her siblings; Miguel and Aaron Smith. Her seven remaining children; Cristobal, Juan, Elias, and Alberto Vasquez, Alma Vasquez-Madrid, Estela Vasquez, and Sofia Ortiz. Along with her twenty two grandkids and thirty five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Juan Angel Smith and Sofia Abril Davila. Her siblings Maria Jesus Serrano, Federico, Juan, and Christina Smith. Lastly her beloved son Gerardo Smith Vasquez and great granddaughter Mila Evangeline Bucu Vasquez.
Chona will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed family gatherings and making food for everyone to join. Those that had the pleasure of meeting her knew what a wonderful and loving woman she truly was. Her grace, intellect, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In honor of her memory we will have a viewing on July 5th, 2024 at 6pm-9pm at Espinoza funeral home in Bisbee, Az. A celebration of life July 6th, 2024 at 3pm following her burial at evergreen cemetery.
