Our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle (tio) and friend Hector Lopez Campas passed away on July 28, 2023 at the age of 82. Hector was born in Agua Prieta, Sonora Mexico on May 19, 1941 to Manuel and Altagracia Campas. He was married to Thelma Campas for 35 years and is survived by their 4 children Hector Campas (Christi), Maribel Campas, Leticia Campas, and Luis Campas (Kristin). He also had another son, Nicolas Laski. Hector was a loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Paloma Estrella and preceded in death by his brothers Manuel Campas, Ruben Campas, Heriberto Campas, sister Mercedes Acosta, and grandson Christopher Campas.
As a young man he worked in the fields and later went on to own several businesses. He had many accomplishments throughout his life. He was a boxer in Agua Prieta, Sonora with a couple of professional bouts in California. He played baseball for numerous years with the Broncos. His latest was his love for horses and began Los Alamos Racing Stables. His horses competed professionally throughout the southwest. It didn’t just end there Hector continued to stay active and was proud of his daily exercise routines.
Hector loved his black coffee, many sweets, and the daily newspaper. He had quite a sense of humor and always spoke the truth. He was courageous, energetic, generous, and humble. He was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest and did things his way. He had a special kind of love for his family starting with his children all the way down to his great grandchildren. His smile was infectious! He was loved by so many and will forever be missed by the great big family he has left behind.
