Jack Ladd, a lifelong resident of Cochise County passed away on September 3,
2024 at the age of ninety-eight. He was born in Douglas, Arizona in 1926, to Harry
and Mary Ladd. The family moved to Bisbee when Jack was eighteen months old.
He attended Bisbee Schools and was a graduate of the BHS class of 1944. Jack
served in the Navy at the end of WWII and again in the Army to serve during the
Korean conflict. After he completed his engineering degree at the University of
Arizona, he returned to Bisbee to work for Phelps Dodge mining company in 1953, spending almost forty years with the company. In retirement, Jack served on the Copper Queen Hospital Board of Directors for twenty years and the Hereford Natural Resource Conservation District Board of Supervisors.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Marie Walker Ladd. Marie and Jack were married sixty- one years. Together they supported and committed to maintaining the ranch legacy of one- hundred-twenty-eight years of consistent operation. Jack leaves behind his son John Ladd (JoBeth), grandson's Justin Ladd (Maureen), Kenny Ladd, Randy Ladd (Libby) and their children Jack and Owen. And niece Penelope Walker Levario. After two years as a widower, Jack married his second wife Marguerite Askins and they had nine years together. Jack requested no memorial service to be held.
