Ruth grew up in Jiggerville, a neighborhood that no longer exists due to the mining operation and whose homes were moved to the Saginaw area. After graduation from Bisbee High School in 1952, Ruth started working the lunch counter at the Lowell Drug Store, where she first met Everett.
On October 21, 1956, Ruth married the love of her life, Everett Waters at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunset Acres in the Bisbee area. Ruth and Everett went on to have two children, Kathy Waters of Sierra Vista and Lance Waters of Bisbee.
Ruth worked for "Ma Bell" for a short time before taking time off to raise her two children. When Ruth returned to the workforce, she worked for the Bisbee School District until she retired. After retirement, Ruth remained active in her church community at Hope Lutheran Church and enjoyed bowling in a local league for over 20 years. She became active in the Bisbee Senior Center, where she excelled at playing Wii Bowling. Her hobbies were embroidery, crochet, and sewing.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Everett Waters, parents Edna and Peter Welander, sisters Louise, Alice and Irene, and brother Harold. She is survived by her brother Arthur, her children Kathy and Lance Waters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Hope Lutheran Church on June 22, 2024, at 11:00.
