Theodore Smerekanich

Theodore Smerekanich was born in Ohio in 1941 to Frank and Eugenia Smerekanich. He grew up in South Bend Indiana where he became a life long Fighting Irish fan. After high school Ted joined the Air Force and was Stationed in Greece. While in the Air Force Ted met Barbara and the two were happily married for 60 years. In 1969 Ted joined the Highway Patrol and was assigned to Bisbee. Ted worked as a DPS officer for 25yrs in Bisbee, where he was known as the patrol officer who ticketed his own mother. Ted loved to travel and experience new things with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Ted is proceeded in death by his father Frank, mother Eugenia, and his brothers Andre and John.

Ted is survived by his wife Barbara, his four children Ted Smerekanich, Frank (Maryann) Smerekanich, Angel ( Randy) Elstad, and Cissy Smerekanich. His grandchildren Frank (Rachael) Smerekanich, Emie Elstad, Lukas Smerekanich, Veronica (Forrest) Hancock, and Jessica Sullivan. And his 9 1/2 super grandchildren.

We will miss his funny dry sense of humor and the way he made us all laugh, but most of all we will miss the presence that he had.
